Listening Across Time
Municipal Gallery at the Ingolstadt City Theater
Kunsverein Ingolstadt, Ingolstadt
July 18 - August 23, 2026
Listening Across Time is a solo exhibition at the Municipal Gallery at the Ingolstadt City Theater of Kunstverein Ingolstadt. Bringing together film, light sculpture, composition, and architectural intervention, the exhibition examines choreography as a method for organizing relationships between body, movement, space, and time.
The exhibition approaches space as a dynamic configuration in which movement itself becomes a form of reading, and bodily awareness, extending beyond the visual, inscribes itself within an expanded register of perception. In the light sculpture A Drawn Choreography of the Body's Extended Awareness Across the Theatre: From Backstage to Stage to the Entrance, choreography is explored as a form of notational sketch: an embodied process of perception, a score through which movement becomes visible.
Different temporalities – those of cinematic duration, sculptural presence of light and sound – converge in a formal simultaneity. The composition Awakening of the Unfinished draws on references to jazz, experimental electronic music, and the Baroque lament – a musical form associated with mourning, suspension, and reflection – while simultaneously resisting any singular attribution or meaning. Rather than remaining within the language of lament, the work opens toward the possibility of transition: a moment of awakening, transformation, and reconfiguration, as also articulated in the poem Informal Instant, which functions as its libretto.
The film The Last Rehearsal presents a moving abstraction of the brutalist architecture of the Stadttheater and its various stage environments. Through the camera’s movement, it unfolds as an intuitive, choreographic sequence of moments that approaches rehearsal as the starting point of an open-ended, continuous process. The film understands movement and light as possibilities of a future form – as a vision of becoming.
Drawing on the notion of choreography as a relational system in which bodies and environments mutually constitute and transform one another, the works in the exhibition engage with astronomical, physical, and sensory structures. Through temporal shifts, spatial orientation, and corporeal presence, time emerges as a dynamic process of attunement, in which the body continuously negotiates the relations between space, movement, and perception.
